Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced that three suspects have been arrested in an armed robbery that happened earlier this week.
JC Thompson III (B/M, 17), Leon Cammack Jr. (B/M, 19), and Lorenza Jackson Jr. (B/M, 17) were all arrested for Armed Robbery with Use of a Firearm. All three suspects are being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $250,000 bond each.
On Tuesday, April 17th, at approximately 9:49 p.m., the victim had just parked his vehicle at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Ridgefield Avenue when he was approached and robbed at gun point. During the robbery, he was tackled to the ground after being threatened with the gun if he screamed. His keys were taken so the suspects could find something to steal inside of his vehicle. At some point, the suspects recognized the victim as someone they knew and all took off running. The armed robbers made off with $3.00.
Police Officers responding to the armed robbery spotted a group of males matching the description in the 200 Block of Sanders Street. Officers apprehended one, Thompson, but the others took off running. Thompson was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for booking.
On Wednesday, April 18th, members of the Thibodaux Police Department Detectives Division, Narcotics Division and Patrol Division were following up with the investigation and searching for additional suspects by checking known locations when a Detective spotted Jackson in the area of the 200 Block of Sanders Street. A foot pursuit ensued, but Jackson was caught and arrested before he could enter into 206 Sanders Street.
While arresting Jackson, a female, Leilani Turnage, came to the door at 206 Sanders Street. Police asked Turnage if Cammack, Turnage’s boyfriend, was inside, to which Turnage told Officers that he wasn’t. Police noticed that Turnage kept going inside and returning outside while appearing to be nervous. Police received permission from another party to search the home and found Cammack hiding in a closet. Cammack was placed under arrest and Turnage was arrested for harboring a fugitive. This investigation is ongoing.
