AMBROSE, LAURA ROTOLO - #00043819

TILLMAN, TRENT RASHAUN - #00043820

On Friday, November 9, 2018, at approximately 2:09 a.m. the Thibodaux Police Department received a call of a suspicious vehicle inside Martin Luther King Park. Upon Officers’ arriving, the vehicle in question was spotted. The vehicle immediately began to flee the area with no lights. Upon reaching the roadway, the vehicle still failed to utilize its lights, at which time officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle led officers on a short vehicle pursuit, while committing several traffic infractions.

Upon successfully stopping the vehicle in the 200 block of Sanders Street, both occupants were ordered out the vehicle and identified as Ambrose and Tillman. Officers learned through a field investigation that Ambrose and Tillman were in the park attempting to perform sexual acts. Tillman advised officers that he picked up Ambrose and brought her to the park, where he was paying Ambrose for sexual acts. Although Ambrose denied this allegation, she did admit to prostituting in the past.

During the stop, a K-9 sniff was conducted on the vehicle, which resulted in a search by officers. The search of the vehicle rendered the findings of approximately ninety five (95) grams of suspected powder cocaine and one (1) gram of suspected marijuana inside a suitcase located in the trunk. The suitcase also contained an assortment of drug paraphernalia including sandwich bags and a digital scale. Officers also retrieved approximately two (2) grams of suspected powder cocaine in a baggie located along the route of the vehicle pursuit.

Both Ambrose and Tillman were booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, where they later posted bond.

Thibodaux Police Increase Patrol Efforts And Offer Safety Tips For City Of Thibodaux 2018 Halloween Celebrations

Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced that increased patrol efforts are scheduled for Halloween (Wednesday October 31, 2018, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.) in the City Limits of Thibodaux, in order to help keep trick-or-treaters safe. Officers will patrol with their blue emergency lights activated to remind motorists to drive slowly and exercise extreme caution as children take to the streets. Parents and adults are encouraged to keep a close watch for all children and report any incidents or suspicious activity to any visible officer or by contacting the Thibodaux Police Department at (985) 446-5021. Weather for this event will be monitored closely, as the safety of our citizens is of utmost importance.

Halloween (Pic)

Chief Zeringue would like to offer some helpful safety tips to our community partners and their children, while they enjoy the Halloween festivities.

Halloween Safety

Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to child safety. There are several easy and effective behaviors that parents can share with kids to help reduce their risk of injury.

Hard Facts

On average, children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year.

Top Tips

  1. Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors. Since masks can sometimes obstruct a child’s vision, try non-toxic face paint and makeup whenever possible.
  2. Have kids use glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
  3. Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, remind them to stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.
  4. City of Thibodaux trick-or-treating hours are from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. so be especially alert for kids during those hours.
  5. When selecting a costume make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.

Trick or Treaters:

Kids should try to stay in small groups with a responsible adult, or teen accompanying each group. At least one person in the group should carry a flashlight in case it begins to get dark.

Try to stay on well-lighted streets and do not go to homes that are not well lit.

Never enter a stranger’s house even if invited and never take a ride from a stranger.

Use sidewalks when possible. Always Walk! Never run across yards. Look both ways before crossing streets.

Treats:

Never eat treats from trick-or-treating until they are examined by a parent.

Check wrappers of pre-packaged treats for signs of tampering and throw away anything unwrapped.

If harmful items are found, notify your local law enforcement agency.

Parties:

Always know who is sponsoring the activity and how long it will last.

Older children may wish to help supervise instead of trick-or-treating.

Keep any paper decorations well away from heat or flames.

Costumes:

Wear comfortable street shoes. Avoid big, floppy shoes.

Trick-or-treat bags and buckets should have handles to keep arms free.

Bags should be easy to carry and should not drag on the ground.

Carry-along props should be made of Styrofoam or cardboard with no sharp points.

Hats, wigs, or beards should be secure and out of eyes.

Parents:

Avoid encouraging children to enter a stranger’s house. Never invite trick-or-treaters into your home.

Give self-wrapped, homemade treats only to children you know, and wrapped commercial treats to others.

Know the supervising adult, which friends your children will be with, and exactly what route they will be taking.

Try not to leave your home unattended on Halloween Night.

Leave a porch light on, so children will know it’s okay to visit your home.

Keep pets inside the house, garage, or shed.

Use flashlights or LED Candles in Jack-lanterns, opposed to using a fire lit candle.

Weather:

If rain gear is needed, please be cautious of others upon using an umbrella. If roadways are wet, please wear nonskid shoes, to prevent any slipping hazards.

  • Christopher McCormick (17, B/M, 213 Ridgeway Street – Thibodaux, LA) is charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle (1-Count), Simple Burglary (7-Counts) & Attempted Burglary (1-Count). Bond Amount $ 160,000.00

MCCORMICK, CHRISTOPHERWILSON, KOBE

On Friday, October 19, 2018, the Thibodaux Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained warrants on McCormick and Wilson, after linking them to multiple vehicle burglaries and a vehicle theft that occurred inside the City Limits of Thibodaux. This was the end result of an investigation that started in mid-September and quickly became a joint investigation between the Thibodaux Police Department, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana State Police. Detectives worked together to connect involvement in the vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts that occurred both inside the City Limits of Thibodaux and outside the City in the northern portion of Lafourche Parish.

During the investigation, agencies developed reliable information, that the crimes committed inside the City Limits and the northern parts of Lafourche Parish were in fact related. Further information eventually led to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office & Louisiana State Police conducting a search warrant at McCormick’s residence on Wednesday October 17th, 2018. McCormick was taken into custody on scene in connection to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation. Wilson was also taken into custody later that night by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for being connected to their investigation as well. Both subjects face charges with L.P.S.O.

Once apprehended, the Thibodaux Police Department Criminal Investigations Division conducted an interview with McCormick. The interview with McCormick affirmed his involvement to a number of vehicle burglaries and a vehicle theft in the Rienzi Subdivision. McCormick also admitted to a number of vehicle burglaries in the Acadia Woods Subdivision.

Information obtained during the investigation indicated that Wilson was McCormick’s accomplice in the burglaries, along with stealing the vehicle. McCormick added that the stolen vehicle was used to travel outside the City Limits and commit further burglaries in the northern part of Lafourche Parish. Wilson declined an interview with investigators. City Court of Thibodaux Warrants were then obtained on both McCormick and Wilson as they remain at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

Chief Zeringue would like to remind our community partners to ensure all property and vehicles are locked and secured when left unattended. Even with your vehicle being locked, please remove anything of value. If you see anything suspicious or out the ordinary, please contact the Thibodaux Police Department at (985) 446-5021 or 911 In case of an Emergency. “Locking your vehicles can go a long way in the protection of your property,” said Chief Zeringue. “Many burglars are looking for unlocked, easy targets.”
