Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Xiuli Sun (A/F, 47), of Thibodaux, LA for Prostitution by Massage.
On Thursday, April 20th, 2023, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Narcotics Investigators with the Thibodaux Police Department conducted an undercover “Operation Full Service” at a local Massage Parlor in the 100 block of Talbot Avenue. This was followed by a lengthy investigation after learning of possible suspicious activity in January 2023. Investigators learned of a similar massage parlor connected to the one in Thibodaux being operated in Morgan City, LA. Investigators collaborated with investigators from the Morgan City Police Department in a joint investigation.
During the investigation, investigators learned that the business was listed on multiple websites which are commonly used for escorts, massage parlors, and prostitution. Based on all information collected during the investigation, an undercover officer was sent into the business, where a massage was negotiated with the operator/masseuse of the business.
Xiuli Sun was later identified as the target of the investigation. During the course of the massage, Xiuli Sun negotiated and offered additional services of a sexual nature for an added cost. Investigators with the Thibodaux Police Department with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations entered the business and executed a search warrant where additional evidence was obtained corroborating the illegal activity. U.S. Currency connected to this activity was located and seized.
Xiuli Sun was arrested for Prostitution by Massage. The investigation into the activity of the massage parlor is ongoing and additional arrests may follow. Xiuli Sun is awaiting court proceedings.
A similar operation was conducted simultaneously by the Morgan Police Department regarding the massage parlor in their area. Please refer to the Morgan City Police Department for details of their investigation.
Chief Zeringue would like to thank all agencies who assisted and continue to assist in this investigation.
Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue announced that a subject’s body was recovered during the early morning hours of March 1, 2023, following a search in Bayou Lafourche.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on February 28, 2023, the Thibodaux Police Department was contacted by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, requesting assistance with a vehicle pursuit that was headed toward the Thibodaux City Limits. Members of our agency intercepted the pursuit and assisted with it until the suspect vehicle turned on to the Jackson Street Bridge. During this time, members of both agencies witnessed the driver of the vehicle later identified as the deceased (Calvin Johnson B/M 30 YOA) exit the still moving vehicle and leap from the railing of the bridge into Bayou Lafourche. Once entering the water, the subject did surface at some point but appeared that he was having difficulty staying above water. Officers then entered the water in an attempt to render aid at which time the subject was no longer visible above water and was unable to be located.
With assistance from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office & Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department, first responders searched for hours in attempt to locate the missing suspect.
Utilizing equipment and man power from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 Division (Cadaver Dog) and lighting from the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department, members of the Thibodaux Police Department were able to recover the deceased body of Calvin Johnson shortly after 2:00 a.m. not far from the area he was last seen. The deceased was turned over to Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office pending an autopsy to rule cause of death.
The investigation into the pursuit that was initiated by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with a search warrant of the vehicle he was operating is still being conducted by the two agencies. Chief Zeringue would like to thank all the agencies who assisted with the initial incident, recovery and the ongoing investigation. Chief Zeringue wants to remind all drivers that motorists suspected of DWI who refuse to submit to a breathalyzer test will lose their driver’s license for one year (first offense). Never drive if you have had anything containing alcohol to drink.
Even legal medication can make you unfit to drive safely. A few of those medications are tranquilizers, narcotic pain pills, sleep medicines, some antidepressants, cough medicines, antihistamines and decongestants.
Plan a safe way to get home before attending any small gatherings away from home.
If you plan to walk home, have a sober friend secure you a cab or uber. Walking impaired is not safe.
