Misuse Of 9-1-1 Lands Subject In Jail

Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Bryce Quanstrom (W/M, 22 of Thibodaux, La.), for Unlawful Use of the 911 System.

QUANSTROM, BRYCE MICHAEL

On Friday, February 15th, 2019, shortly before 1:00 a.m., Thibodaux Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 block of Lagarde Street. While issuing the driver a citation for equipment and a moving violation, a subject later identified as the owner of the vehicle (Bryce Quanstrom) was observed shirtless and sprinting toward the traffic stop. It is uncertain where Mr. Quanstrom was coming from, but he was not in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. Officers immediately advised Mr. Quanstrom to stay back, but Mr. Quanstrom was obviously agitated by this command and began to shout profanities toward the officers and threatened to call 911. Mr. Quanstrom was explained of the ramification if he would in fact call 911 for a non-emergency. Mr. Quanstrom ignored this advice and called 911 demanding he needed an officer to his location. Mr. Quanstrom was then arrested for his actions and continued to shout profanities and pull away from police.

Mr. Quanstrom was transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, where he later posted bond.

Chief Zeringue would like to remind all citizens that the use of the 9-1-1 system and using it correctly is very important. Also, please refrain from approaching officers while they are conducting business in the scope of their duties and/or actively investigating a traffic stop. Be sure to obey officer’s commands. Chief Zeringue takes the safety of our officers and citizens very seriously and any violator will suffer ramifications.
